The Cambridge Society was founded in 1976 by the University of Cambridge.

The magazine CAMBRIDGE appeared for the first time in 1977.

Among the aims of the Society are:

To spread accurate information about the University, its activities, achievements and plans, so that fair assessments of its work can be made by members of the public, particularly by members of the Government and of Parliament, by journalists and broadcasters and by all those involved in education.

To enable members to make new contacts among Cambridge men and women, wherever they may be, to keep them in touch with the University and to provide a social focus.

To encourage discussion between resident members of the University and those members of the Society in business and professional life whose knowledge and experience can make useful contributions in any area of concern to the University.

The network formed by the groups of Alumni present all over the world offers a focus for the graduates who return home, and for those who move to a new country.

At present there are about 200 groups of the Cambridge Society in Great Britain and all over the world.

The person responsible for the Cambridge Society in Sicily is architect Salvatore La Spina. Salvatore is willing to offer information and support to those who would like to get acquainted with the opportunities that the University of Cambridge offers.

Moreover, the (small) group of Alumni resident in Sicily, and mainly in Palermo, organises social activities to which is welcome anyone who is interested in English culture and British academic institutions.
